This is a really interesting subject. James Fallon is clearly experiencing joy from the love and respect that he is getting from the audience, which is a powerful motivator. I think a proper psychopath would not emotionally respond to it and would only respond to any objective gains that he might get.

Ask anyone who has completed the Individuation or Spiritual awakening process. The Divine is inside you but you are completely unaware of this fact because the part of you that is Divine if dormant and unconscious and needs to be awakened. Before that can happen you must first develop a strong and mature ego...and then undergo the most difficult and agonizing process a human being can experience. Spirit is present in space-time but is also present throughout all the timeless dimensions of the multi dimensional Universe.

Nothing can take place without time being present. Time is just another way of describing “when”. For the Big Bang to take place, there had to be a space for it to fill and a “when” for it to even happen. It cant just explode without the presence of time beforehand. Even a black void in its presence still has time, human life doesn’t determine when time exists, egotistical humans just like to think they do.

Evidence for atheism: First realize that what you believe is governed primarily by where you were born and what your family/culture taught you to believe. Muslims raised in Iran are just as convinced about their religion as Christians in Mississippi. Buddhists in Tibet believe in the Buddha, not Jesus. Interestingly, the Buddha said he was not a god, yet many of his believers turned him into a god. Think about early man becoming self-aware and not knowing anything about the real world. Man has created and worshiped thousands of gods. Seems like we want a super dad help us in this unfair world. Let's look at amazing claims in the Bible. The "facts" about Jesus (Son of God, virgin birth, sent to save mankind, resurrection) can all be found in earlier religions in places like Persia and Egypt. Christianity likely co-opted these ideas in an effort to make a man called Jesus, a great human teacher of morality, compete with the existing religions. Some argued that we cannot have morality or absolute morality without God, yet morality was developed in all cultures way before the Bible was ever written. The creators of the moral guidelines were just humans like Buddha or Confucius. In fact, all holy books were written by man. If a culture doesn't have morality it will likely die out. A good place to start your morality is to treat others as you would like to be treated. Not interfering with a person's growth or happiness, unless they are harming you, makes sense too. Christians will say the Bible is the word of God. Yet the Bible contains many immoral rules. Examples: Kill your children if they strike or curse you, kill gays, slavery is OK. Read these and more of God's craziness in Deuteronomy and Leviticus. So we don't use Gods rules per se, we have to use our own human values to get rid of God's immorality, and our values have evolved over time. Other problems with the Bible are its many contradictions and the fact the New Testament was written well after Jesus died. The Jesus stories were past down orally for decades and we know how stories are embellished after being told many times. See Bart Ehrman's books about all the Bible's contradictions and who its authors really were... The other amazing thing about the Bible is it contains no information beyound man's knowledge at that time. It would have been nice if God told us about germs. Instead people learned to say "bless you" to sick people to help get the demon's out of them. Where did God come from? Did he come from nothing? If so, why can't matter/energy do it too? If you say God always was, then why can't matter/energy always exist too? In fact, science says matter/energy cannot be created or destroyed - the law of conservation. If you say the amazing complexity of life and the universe requires a designer, then isn't that designer even more amazing and therefore also requires a designer...? Please don't change the rules to protect your god. Evolution is well supported by the fossil record and in the DNA of the spectrum of critters from simple to complex on this planet. Even the big bang theory doesn't say the universe came from nothing. It says the current universe expanded from a very small starting point - like a bubble forming in a infinite beer. There are many theories of what came before this universe started with a bang. Just saying God did it dumbs us down. The fact of the matter is that man is needy and still not that smart. Most people are just not curious enough to investigate the evolution of religions or biochemistry. Mankind's beliefs have evolved from worshiping the sun to worshiping the King. Believers says atheism gives no hope of anything after death, and that says it all. Religion gives hope, and faith is belief in that which is hoped for... I think Paul and Art said it better "A man believes what he wants to believe and disregards the rest..." An atheist would just like to see some real evidence...

I like Malcolm Gladwell, but he knowingly (I am sure) does not mention that "equivalent" courses at Harvard are harder than courses at "lesser" schools. Why? Because as much as grade inflation exists, Harvard wants its degrees to mean something more than a degree of the same name from a "lesser" school. The more advanced professors demand more from their more advanced students.

there is one problem and one problem alone: As a student, you are poor as hell. You study all day, come back home from the library and your reward is: A roommate waiting for you to pick a fight over a dirty plate in the kitchen. But since you do neither have the time to move due to mandatory assignments nor the money for any apartment where you can live alone, you are stuck there. But that's not so bad, a degree in the sciences takes only, ah 3 years at an absolute minimum, on average only 4 years. Meanwhile you cannot afford healthy food, any computer hardware, interesting textbooks or even a meditation app subscription to help you calm down from all the stress you have from being poor. You want more people get science degrees? Pay them to get it.

i agree on the concept and infact i owe my getting best engineering education in India because of a similar reason that my family shifted towns and in the new school i felt i have an opportunity to do better. However, in my under-graduation though most people were smarter than me, i learned a lot. I believe that's because in addition to learning from profs, you learn a lot more with a peer group. So if i deliberately choose a group where i am the smartest, how will i grow intellectually. We need to find a way not to be depressed in setting of brilliant minds, by understanding that it is not a competition with others. I just need to be better today than I was yesterday.
